A specific date for Nintendo players
007 First Light is scheduled to reach Nintendo Switch 2 on March 18, 2027. IO Interactive announced the date on October 14, 2026, alongside a new trailer that the developer identifies as running on Nintendo’s platform.
This is a release announcement for the Switch 2 version, not a new launch date for every edition. IO’s announcement describes the game as already available elsewhere. The news matters specifically to Nintendo players deciding whether to wait for that version.
Why the older summer date is not the current schedule
At the time of this report, IO Interactive’s general FAQ still says the Switch 2 version is coming in summer 2026. It separately lists May 27, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Those entries explain why readers may encounter conflicting dates when checking older pages.
For Switch 2, the dedicated October 14 announcement is the newer, platform-specific statement: March 18, 2027. Read that as the scheduled date going forward, rather than treating the undated FAQ wording as a second release window. The announcement also says pre-orders are open, but that statement is not a guarantee of stock at every retailer or in every region.
A trailer is not a performance test
IO says the team will continue optimising the Switch 2 version before launch. Its announcement does not provide a resolution target, a frame-rate commitment or a docked-versus-handheld performance comparison.
The same Bond origin adventure, arriving later
IO describes First Light as a narrative action-adventure following a young James Bond entering MI6’s training programme. The Switch 2 announcement concerns that existing game’s platform arrival, not a sequel or a newly announced Bond story.
Before buying, check the current local listing for the edition, price and purchase conditions. A pre-order announcement should not be confused with the game being playable on Switch 2 now. The next useful evidence will be final platform specifications and independent testing closer to release.
