Worldwide launch is live; the Premium head start has ended
Gears of War: E-Day entered early access on October 1 at 8 a.m. PT / 3 p.m. UTC. The Coalition opened that window for Premium Edition owners and players who add the Premium Edition Upgrade to an eligible base-game or Game Pass entitlement.
Xbox confirmed the worldwide launch on October 6. Standard Edition buyers and eligible Game Pass members now have access on Xbox Series X|S and PC; the announced global unlock time was 8 a.m. PT / 3 p.m. UTC.
Editions, US prices and Game Pass access
Xbox lists the Standard Edition at $69.99, Premium at $99.99 and the Premium Upgrade at $30 in the United States. Standard includes the base game; Premium bundles the weapon pack, five seasonal customization packs and 1,000 Iron. The upgrade requires the base game or Game Pass Ultimate, according to the product terms.
| Option | US price | Access | Main inclusions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | $69.99 | Available now | Base game |
| Premium Edition | $99.99 | Available now | Base game; weapon pack; five customization packs; 1,000 Iron |
| Premium Edition Upgrade | $30 | With eligible base access | Premium extras; requires base game or Game Pass Ultimate |
| Game Pass Ultimate / PC Game Pass | Subscription | Available now | Base-game access |
Eligible Game Pass members now have base-game access without buying Premium. Preorder rewards applied to qualifying advance purchases; do not assume that a purchase made after launch includes them.
Platforms, Play Anywhere and physical-disc access
The confirmed platforms are Xbox Series X|S and PC through the Xbox app and Steam. Xbox Play Anywhere applies to a digital Microsoft Store purchase, carrying supported progression and achievements between Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC. A Steam purchase is a separate storefront entitlement.
Xbox also says E-Day participates in its Disc to Digital program. For supported disc purchases, that system can add a digital entitlement after a player inserts and launches the disc on an Xbox console. Availability remains subject to the program's supported-title and account requirements.
- The campaign can be played solo, with two-player split-screen available on console.
- The launch package includes Campaign, Horde Siege and Versus multiplayer.
- Online console multiplayer requires a Game Pass plan that includes online multiplayer.
- Cloud access is available through Game Pass Ultimate where supported.
Season 1 is underway; Ranked is still scheduled for October 13
Season 1: Emergence started with the October 1 early-access release and is scheduled to end December 1. The Coalition says the launch season includes the game's initial maps, modes and cosmetics alongside limited Halloween, twentieth-anniversary and Thanksgiving-themed events.
The Coalition schedules Ranked Versus and the first weekly-challenge refresh for October 13. Its launch plan says the challenges received in early access carry into the worldwide release.
The Coalition has also named four later seasons—Legacy, Infiltration, Pendulum and Devotion—and says E-Day will receive at least five post-launch seasons. Season 2 will focus on the franchise's twentieth anniversary, including a player gift planned for November 7.
What buyers should verify before choosing an edition
- Regional prices and physical-edition availability can differ from the US listings.
- Microsoft Store and Steam purchases are separate entitlements; Xbox Play Anywhere does not convert a Steam copy into an Xbox console licence.
- The Premium customization packs are scheduled across multiple releases rather than all arriving on October 1.
- Online modes and cloud play can require additional subscriptions and supported regions.
- Check current storefront and service availability if your entitlement is not appearing after launch.
