Switch 2 and offline play arrive December 9
Ubisoft has set December 9, 2026 for Riders Republic on Nintendo Switch 2. The same day, a new Nomad mode is scheduled to add offline single-player play across Switch 2 and every platform that currently supports the game.
The announcement ties the work to portable play on Switch 2 and Steam Deck, but offline mode is not limited to handheld devices. Ubisoft says it will also help during network interruptions and server maintenance on other platforms.
What Nomad mode lets you do offline
Ubisoft says Nomad mode will support most single-player content. Players can explore the open world, progress through careers, unlock landmarks, discover beauty spots, find balloons and continue customizing a character without an active connection.
When the device reconnects, Ubisoft says offline actions will be reconciled with the player's online save and integrated into overall progression. That statement concerns reconnecting one profile after offline play; it does not announce cross-platform saves or cross-buy.
These features still need a connection
- The in-game shop
- Seasonal progression
- Sponsors
- Multiplayer modes
- User-created events
Ubisoft lists those systems as online-only. The announcement does not provide Switch 2 storage size, frame rate, resolution, price, physical-edition details or an exhaustive feature-comparison chart, so those details should remain unclaimed until the company or storefront publishes them.
The fifth-anniversary window starts before the port
Riders Republic's fifth-anniversary program begins earlier. Ubisoft lists a free weekend from October 22 through October 26, with progress carrying into a later purchase. An in-game Henri PFR concert is also scheduled to begin October 22 and run twice daily for two weeks.
Those events do not make the Switch 2 edition available early. The new platform release and offline mode remain dated December 9.
