A free update, not a new purchase
Housemarque released Saros: Zenith on October 19, 2026 at no additional charge for existing owners. Saros is a PS5 single-player game; PlayStation’s product page lists offline play. The update adds replayable modes and accessibility settings, rather than replacing the base game with a separate free release.
What needs a completed game?
| Feature | What to know |
|---|---|
| Eclipse Layers | New Game+ opens after clearing Saros. Later Layers require more Trial Modifiers before a run; you choose the combination. |
| 20 new modifiers | Ten Protections and ten Trials. Half are available on the first playthrough; half unlock in Eclipse Layers. |
| Overlord Rush | Boss-rush sets accessed through the Primary Unit in Passage. Its leaderboards require an internet connection and a PlayStation account. |
The launch notes place the Crown and golden armor at Eclipse Layer 2. They also add six trophies across Overlord Rush, Eclipse Layers and new modifiers. That is a post-game progression path, not a promise that every addition appears immediately in an unfinished save.
Auto-fire still leaves reload timing to you
Slow Game Speed gives more response time without removing the incoming attack patterns. Players can adjust the slowdown and choose automatic activation during combat or a manual toggle. Auto-fire shoots when you aim at a hostile, but it does not reload for you: perfect reloads still need a timed press.
Motion Sensor Aiming and High Contrast Display offer different adjustments, for aiming and visibility respectively. These settings address different barriers; they should not be collapsed into a claim that the update simply plays the game for you.
Check the follow-up patch before comparing scores
Housemarque’s October 19 notes for patch 02.000.001 adjust Overdrive charging and the times needed for Time Bonuses in Overlord Rush. They also fix invisible lucenite in that mode and stop Unlimited Protection Modifiers selections resetting when the game closes.
