Modern Warfare 4 is not a day-one Game Pass title

CONFIRMED BY ACTIVISION: An October 15 Call of Duty notice says Modern Warfare 4 launches October 23 as a separate purchase and will not join Game Pass until Holiday 2027. No exact inclusion date is supplied. The October additions listed below should not be read as a promise that every new Xbox-published game is included.

Activision separately schedules digital-preorder Campaign Early Access for October 16 and DMZ Early Access for October 20, subject to platform availability, time zones and possible outages. Those purchase-linked access periods are not Game Pass benefits and are not the October 23 full release.

The notice says Ultimate subscribers retain access to Black Ops 7, Black Ops 6 and Modern Warfare III. That is a statement about those existing titles, not entitlement to Modern Warfare 4. Check the exact game and offer before buying or changing a subscription.

Choose by entitlement, not the headline

Xbox’s plan comparison gives Ultimate and PC Game Pass day-one access to selected releases. Premium has a different library; Essential does not include new releases on day one. PC Game Pass is a PC subscription, so a cloud label in the announcement does not by itself give a PC-only subscriber cloud access.

Ultimate and PC include EA Play. Regional availability, platform support and the active plan still govern what an account can play. Subscription access ends when the subscription expires or the game leaves the library; it is not permanent ownership.

What “day one” changes

The source explicitly marks seven announced titles as day-one additions. Battlefield 6’s October 13 entry is a subscription arrival, not an announcement of its original release date. Gears of War: E-Day is already available; its access and edition choices have a separate PatchCrest guide.
