God of War Laufey’s release and pre-order dates
God of War Laufey is scheduled to launch for PlayStation 5 on February 16, 2027. Pre-orders open September 29, 2026 at 10 a.m. local time, according to Sony Santa Monica’s first-party PlayStation Blog briefing.
The game follows Laufey—Faye—before the events of the Norse God of War games. After dying in battle, she awakens in the Everywhen and begins a journey back to the living realm with Rue and Phranque. PlayStation describes it as a standalone action-adventure story rather than an expansion for God of War Ragnarök.
What every pre-order includes
Pre-ordering either edition unlocks three in-game extras: the Last Wish Armor Set for Faye, the Golden Leaves appearance for Phranque and a resource pack intended to give players an early boost. PlayStation has not itemized the resource pack or assigned a separate value to the bonuses.
| Item | Confirmed purpose |
|---|---|
| Last Wish Armor Set | An armor set for Faye |
| Phranque Golden Leaves Appearance | A cosmetic appearance for Phranque |
| In-game Resource Pack | Resources for early progression; exact contents are not listed |
Standard and Digital Deluxe editions compared
The Standard Edition contains the base game. PlayStation says the physical Standard Edition’s pre-order bonus is supplied by download code, which requires an internet connection and a PlayStation account. The announcement does not identify a physical Deluxe or collector’s package.
| Edition | Contents |
|---|---|
| Standard Edition | God of War Laufey for PS5; eligible pre-orders also receive the three-item bonus |
| Digital Deluxe Edition | Base game; Dark Alchemy Armor Set; Dark Alchemy Blade, Bow Scales and Catalyst; resource pack; digital mini artbook; digital soundtrack; eligible pre-order bonus |
The distinction matters because the Last Wish and Dark Alchemy sets are separate offers. Last Wish is the shared pre-order incentive; Dark Alchemy belongs to the Digital Deluxe Edition.
How Faye’s Serpent Bow changes the combat rhythm
The Serpent Bow is designed to function in both close and ranged combat. Fully aiming increases draw distance for stronger precision shots and can expose impairment targets on enemies. Hitting those points can interrupt attacks or create other combat advantages.
Faye can also charge and stack as many as five arrows before releasing them rapidly. A half-aim stance supports faster hip-fired shots and cluster volleys, giving the weapon a second rhythm when deliberate long-range aiming is too slow.
Different arrow types add elemental properties and status effects. Bow Scales change the weapon’s appearance and can alter its specialization or grant perks, while unlockable skills expand Faye’s move set. Her build also combines armor, a Blade and a Catalyst with those Bow Scales.
What PlayStation has not announced
- Standard or Digital Deluxe pricing in any region.
- A PC release or any platform beyond PlayStation 5.
- Preload timing, download size or disc-install requirements.
- Performance and quality modes, frame-rate targets or PS5 Pro enhancements.
- A physical Deluxe Edition, collector’s edition or other premium box.
- Whether the pre-order cosmetics or resource pack will be sold separately after launch.
Those details should be treated as unannounced until they appear in an official store listing, technical briefing or later PlayStation communication. Edition names alone do not establish price, physical availability or future platform support.
The next useful checkpoints
The immediate checkpoint is September 29, when regional PlayStation Store pages should expose local pricing and purchase terms. Closer to February, the practical questions will shift toward preload timing, file size, accessibility, performance modes and how much of the campaign PlayStation is prepared to show before release.
For now, the meaningful change is clear: God of War Laufey has moved from a dated announcement to a defined commercial offer, while its latest combat briefing gives Faye’s signature weapon a more specific mechanical identity.
