Where Planet Zoo 2 is available

Frontier Developments confirmed Planet Zoo 2 is out on October 13 for Windows PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Steam and the PlayStation Store both mark the game as released, while the Xbox listing supports Series X|S, PC and Xbox Play Anywhere. The announced launch platform list does not include Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.

The Deluxe Edition bundles the base game with the Deluxe Upgrade Pack. Steam lists six additional animal species and exclusive animal signs in that pack. Standard-edition players can buy the upgrade separately, but the total price should be checked in the buyer’s own store and region.

What the sequel changes

Frontier’s launch briefing says Planet Zoo 2 contains more than 130 animals. Its headline additions are fully aquatic species and fully flying birds: players can build freshwater or saltwater aquariums for animals such as blacktip reef sharks and hawksbill turtles, then construct aviaries for birds including toucans and secretarybirds.

Wildlife Reserves extend conservation work beyond a conventional zoo. They are customizable ecosystems where players complete conservation goals before releasing animals. The sequel also adds scaling and flexi-colour controls, revised pathing, new foliage and terrain brushes, four new scenery themes and five returning themes.

Career, Franchise and Sandbox modes return around those systems. Frontier Workshop lets players browse and download blueprints and other creations from across platforms. That wording supports cross-platform sharing of community creations; it should not be read as a blanket promise that every multiplayer or account feature works identically across every platform.

The practical launch-day checks

  • Choose a platform first: PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are the confirmed launch families.
  • Compare Standard with Deluxe only if the six extra animals and decorative signs matter to your planned zoo.
  • On PC, verify the 16 GB memory requirement, DirectX 12 graphics support and 40 GB storage listing before buying.
  • Treat community creations as optional: the core Career and Sandbox experiences do not depend on downloading other players’ blueprints.

Frontier says launch is not the end of support and that more information will follow. No specific expansion calendar is established by the launch post, so future animals, features and release dates should be treated as unannounced until Frontier publishes them.
